Near To The Brokenhearted

The hospital down the street has given me some of my favorite memories of life, like dating one of the nursing assistants and making her my wife. I also held each of my daughters for the first time in that building. Unfortunately it’s also there, in consult room 1213B, that gave me the worst memory—when the surgeons said the “C” word. After what we hoped was a routine surgery, Nicole was diagnosed with a rare cancer. It’s in those moments Psalm 34:18 is felt deeply, “God is near to the brokenhearted.”

One of the ways God has shown Himself near is through the community He’s placed us in. We’re so thankful for the outpouring of prayers, support and encouragement. While there are many unknowns, one thing we do know is God is good and His people are evidence of it. Thank you for playing a big part in making Psalm 34:18 real to Nicole, our daughters and I.
