Waiting

Considered a “Desert Father,” Moses the Ethiopian wrote, “Sit in your cell, and your cell will teach you everything.”
God likes to use waiting rooms as classrooms. The lessons are great, but often painful and frustrating.
Abraham waited for a son. Joseph sat in prison. David waited for the crown. Martha waited outside Lazarus’ tomb. Each of those waits hurt but weren’t wasted.
Right now is a time for waiting. Nicole finished her second round of chemo. It’s been a rough few weeks that have left her mentally exhausted and physically drained. Thankfully her fevers are gone, and she even had the energy to leave the house.
After round three, she’ll have a scan that will tell us the effectiveness of the chemo. But for now we’re waiting, and we aim to not waste this precious, yet dreaded, classroom.
We’ve repeated to our girls: this season could destroy us or refine us. We aim for the latter. And we are thankful for the community around us to help ease the difficulty of this cell.
